about Dirk

Dirk Heinz provides fast and practical advice through a lens which is always alive to the commercial drivers and customs of the people who live and do business in the Pacific.

Dirk’s areas of commercial law expertise span across a number of areas of practice including construction, telecommunications and ICT law. After 14 months acting as an environmental law volunteer in the Solomon Islands, he also has a passion for working with clients and Pacific Peoples who are interested in tackling the environmental and economic threats posed by the impacts of climate change.

Dirk’s on-the-ground experience in the Pacific working with local land and business owners, government organisations and Pacific legal practitioners has given him a unique understanding of how business is done in the region. When paired with his experience as commercial lawyer at national law firms in Sydney and Melbourne, this regional understanding allows him to deliver commercial advice which his clients in the Pacific can rely on.

Dirk’s commercial law experience is split between working as both a firm-based legal advisor at a top-tier firm, and acting as a secondee senior in-house counsel at Australia’s largest wholesale broadband provider. His time in-house gives him a deep understanding of the work products required, and timelines which need to be met, in order for clients to do business ethically and efficiently and without the need for overly complex legal speak.

Dirk’s approach is to deliver common sense legal advice which makes complex cross-border transactions as easy as possible for his clients to navigate.
